 VIRTUAL ASTRONOMY DAY
May 2nd, 2020

Picture
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our usual in-person event was not held this year.  Instead the OAOG teamed with RASC - Ottawa to host a joint online event.  Members of both organisations used the Zoom Webinar platform to deliver an all-day virtual star party experience.

On May 2nd, 2020, astro-video camera views from our members' backyard telescopes were streamed live throughout as much of the day as possible.  Live camera views of the Sun were shown, as well as pre-recorded views of the Moon, planets, and other deep-sky objects.  In addition to the telescope views, other members gave presentations throughout the day on various astronomy related topics.  To experience the event for yourself following the instructions provided below.
Thank you to all our presenters & audience for making Virtual Astronomy Day a great success!
Special thanks go to RASC National for loaning their Zoom account and other support, helping to make sure this event is able to take place.
FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT!
Picture
International Astronomy Day is for people of all ages.  Our objective is to inspire an interest in astronomy and science, especially among the younger generation.  This online event may not be as exciting as our normal in-person event, but we believe it is still worthwhile for families to check it out!

Below is the schedule of events for the May 2nd, 2020 event.  We were able to follow the Clear Sky schedule until about 1:45pm, after which we followed the Cloudy Sky schedule.
